Most roller coasters decide how fast you go. This one hands you the controls. The Georgia Mountain Coaster lets riders manage their own speed, so you can coast through the trees or let it run, and every lap can be different. It sits right on South Main Street, so it's an easy add-on to a day in town.

Who can ride

Younger kids (ages 3 and up, 38 inches) ride as passengers with an older driver. Measure kids before you buy tickets.

Tips for a better ride
Go off-peak
Weekend afternoons and Oktoberfest Saturdays draw the biggest lines. Weekday mornings are the quietest.
Secure your stuff
Phones, hats and sunglasses can come loose. Zip them into a pocket or hand them to someone on the ground.
Check the weather
Storms can close the ride. Call before you drive over if the sky looks doubtful.

Getting there and parking
The coaster is at 8409 S Main St, on the south end of downtown. Helen has no parking meters or garages. There are free city lots and private pay lots, and every pay lot posts its rate at the entrance, so read the sign before you leave your car. Our parking guide explains where to go.
