Cowboys & Angels sits on Chattahoochee Street, on the same street as Muller's Famous Fried Cheese Cafe, and describes itself as a fun and friendly place with Southern hospitality. It's a good call when part of your group wants a ribeye or a bison burger instead of bratwurst.

The Helen visitors bureau lists soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood and regional specialties, with a choice of beef or bison on the burger, and steaks cut from 100% certified Angus beef. Tapas Tuesday is the one to plan around: small plates built on bold flavors and unusual combinations, served all day. On Sundays the kitchen turns out a brunch menu of chef-inspired dishes and comfort classics. Because the restaurant doesn't post brunch hours online, call before you head over. The restaurant also books live entertainment through the year.

Because the kitchen serves from 11 AM to 10 PM, it works for a late lunch after a morning on the trails as easily as for dinner.
