The name comes from an old Ethiopian legend about Kaldi, a goatherd who noticed his flock getting lively after eating coffee berries.

The Helen shop: coffee over the river
The Helen location is at 7086 S Main St in historic Nacoochee Village, about a mile and a half (five minutes) south of downtown. Its pitch is simple: "a cup of coffee while watching the trout swim." The shop sits on the river and has a deck, so a morning cup comes with a view of the Chattahoochee. It's also an easy pairing with the Nora Mill Granary stop just up the road.
Hours here are shorter than in Cleveland, opening at 10 AM on weekdays, so use it for a mid-morning break rather than first coffee.
The Cleveland roastery and tasting room
The Cleveland location at 2404 Helen Highway is where the beans are roasted, about 15 minutes south of Helen. The shop describes mountain views, its "famous" espresso, mead tasting and a Mount Yonah view. It also lists live music on weekends and a dog park called Millie and Junah's Playground, so it's the better stop with a dog or a group.
It's open Monday through Saturday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Sunday 8:30 to 5. The coffee bar's drink, latte and "goat" menus are posted as images on the coffee bar menu page, and the events page lists music dates.
