Anna Ruby Falls Trail
A short, paved walk through lush forest to one of Georgia's most famous waterfalls. The trail ends at an observation deck where Curtis Creek Falls (153 ft) and York Creek Falls (50 ft) cascade side by side. Perfect for families and visitors of all abilities.
Dukes Creek Falls Trail
Descend through a dramatic rhododendron-lined corridor to view a spectacular series of cascades plunging over 300 feet into the creek below. Several observation platforms offer different perspectives of this powerful waterfall. The return climb can be challenging.
Raven Cliff Falls Trail
One of the most rewarding hikes in the Helen area, this trail follows Dodd Creek through old-growth hemlock and hardwood forest to a magnificent 100-foot waterfall that splits through a massive rock fissure. The trail crosses several wooden bridges and passes through diverse forest ecosystems.
Unicoi Lake Trail
A gentle loop around the scenic 53-acre Unicoi Lake, offering lovely mountain reflections, opportunities to spot great blue herons and kingfishers, and peaceful forest walking. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for families with young children.
Smithgall Woods Wetland Loop
Wander through a pristine conservation area along Dukes Creek, one of Georgia's finest trout streams. The trail passes through diverse habitats including wetlands, hardwood forest, and open meadows. Excellent opportunities for birding and wildlife photography.
Yonah Mountain Trail
A challenging climb to the dramatic granite summit of Yonah Mountain (3,166 ft), one of the most iconic peaks in northeast Georgia. The reward is an unforgettable 360-degree panorama of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Popular with both hikers and rock climbers.
Helton Creek Falls Trail
One of the easiest waterfall hikes in the region, a brief descent down wooden steps leads to two beautiful waterfalls on Helton Creek. The upper falls drops about 40 feet, and the lower falls about 60 feet. A popular swimming hole sits at the base.
Appalachian Trail: Hogpen Gap to Cowrock Mountain
Hike a rugged section of the legendary Appalachian Trail with stunning ridgeline views and a challenging climb to Cowrock Mountain (3,842 ft). This section passes through high-elevation forests and offers some of the most dramatic scenery along the Georgia AT.
Chattahoochee River Walk
A pleasant paved walk along the Chattahoochee River through downtown Helen. Perfect for a morning stroll or evening walk, with views of tubers floating by in summer and access to shops and restaurants along the way.
