Most people come to Helen for the Bavarian streets and the river, but the hills around it hold a handful of family-run wineries, and a tasting room makes a good rainy-day plan or a slow afternoon after a hike. Habersham Winery has been pouring since 1983 and sits right on the edge of town. Out toward Cleveland, Yonah Mountain Vineyards farms 20 acres at the foot of Yonah Mountain, and CeNita Vineyards has lawn games and a laid-back porch.

Habersham's free weekend music runs through October 31, and Creekstone has Friday and Saturday night music into December.

The Georgia Wine Highway passport is the other thing worth knowing about. It's a mobile passport from Georgia Wine Producers with tastings and offers at more than 40 wineries across the state, and the 2026 version ran March 1 through August 31 for $65. The 2027 dates haven't been announced.

Habersham is a few minutes from the village, so it works as an easy first stop or a quick one between other plans.

Roads are winding, and each stop is a 15 to 20 minute drive from the last. Two or three wineries make a full afternoon.
